SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - illiNews -- The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA), in partnership with The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and with generous support from VoLo Foundation, is proud to announce the recipients of the FMCA Community Impact Scholarships for the September 2025 Health Coach Certification Program.
This year, over 700 applicants shared their powerful stories and aspirations to drive change in communities often left behind by conventional care. After careful consideration, three remarkable individuals have been selected to receive full-tuition scholarships.
These recipients—educators, advocates, and entrepreneurs—are already making a difference. With training in functional medicine health coaching, they will deepen their work and broaden their reach, delivering compassionate, culturally competent care to underserved communities across the globe.
Meet the September 2025 Scholarship Recipients:
Günseli Saygi – Turkey
A public school teacher in a rural village, Günseli has spent her career educating children in English while fostering meaningful connections with their families. Driven by her own healing journey and passion for wellness, she plans to integrate functional medicine health coaching into free educational health programs through Turkey's Ministry of National Education. Offering services in Turkish, English, and German, Günseli is committed to ensuring that language is never a barrier to well-being.

Tiago Ferreira – United States
A data-driven strategist and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Tiago combines behavioral science, emotional intelligence, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals in high-pressure roles. With roots in cyberpsychology and a history of mental health research, Tiago aims to create safe, affirming spaces for healing—especially for LGBTQIA+ leaders navigating burnout, anxiety, and invisibility.
Kasey Diffie – United States
An urban farmer and chronic illness warrior, Kasey is the founder of Cool Greens, a wellness brand that upcycles microgreens into superfood powders. Her firsthand experience with Lyme disease and her deep ties to East Austin fuel her mission to bring healing to gentrified and financially underserved communities. Kasey's future plans include trauma-informed, sliding-scale coaching and therapeutic gardening practices.
Each of these changemakers exemplifies FMCA's mission: to expand the reach of functional medicine health coaching and empower individuals to take charge of their health. Their journeys remind us that when we invest in people, we multiply impact.
