Anchorage Assembly Member Fulfills Campaign Commitment Through First Community Re-Distribution Investment Supporting Anchorage's Beloved Community
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - illiNews -- Anchorage Assembly Member George Martinez today announced the launch of his Community Re-Distribution Initiative with a $1,000 donation to the Gamma Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
The initiative fulfills a commitment Martinez made at the outset of his 2026 reelection campaign to redistribute any remaining campaign resources to community-serving organizations rather than roll those funds forward into future campaigns.
The campaign began with approximately $5,000 carried forward from his 2023 campaign and concluded with more than $5000 remaining. Martinez has chosen to reinvest those resources in qualified nonprofit organizations whose work strengthens Anchorage communities and advances the vision of the Beloved Community.
"Every contribution to a campaign is an investment in a vision," Martinez said. "People gave because they believed in building a stronger Anchorage. Community Re-Distribution honors that trust by ensuring those resources continue serving the public."

Martinez said the initiative reflects a simple principle: supporters were investing in values, not a bank account.
These organizations embody the ideals our supporters believed in: service, opportunity, dignity, and community. Returning resources to them is one way of returning resources to the people."
Nate Rivers of the Gamma Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity welcomed the contribution.
"We extend our sincere gratitude to George Martinez for his generous donation," Rivers said. "We will use these funds to support the growth of our community and its many endeavors. Thank you for your continued commitment to serving as a positive force in our community."
The donation is the first of several planned Community Re-Distribution investments that support organizations strengthening Anchorage through service, leadership development, youth engagement, and community building.
"Building a beloved community requires all of us to invest in one another," Martinez said. "Resources entrusted by the people should ultimately find their way back to the people. This is just the beginning."
