"Research shows that students benefit from quality summer experiences and extended learning, especially children in less-served communities who often lack the resources to continue their development when school is out," Goganzer said. "Healthy Kids Day helps families take the first step toward a summer filled with growth, discovery, and quality time together."
At Healthy Kids Day, families can learn about Y summer camp opportunities, swim lessons and behavioral health resources, plus enjoy a variety of free activities including interactive games, arts and crafts, along with safety and wellness resources from local businesses and health partners.
In addition, non-members will receive a free one-week Y pass and can enter a drawing to win a three-month family membership.
Goganzer emphasized that the Y is open to all, and as a charitable organization, offers financial assistance for membership and programs on a needs-based, sliding scale.
"YMCA programs are designed to nurture the potential of every child and help families and communities grow stronger," Goganzer said. "We encourage all families to come out to the Y on Healthy Kids Day to play, learn, and plan for a summer of fun and connection."
