CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has announced the appointment of Connie Anderson to the Chicago Board of Education District 10b. This decision comes after a vacancy on the board needed to be filled, and Mayor Johnson believes that Anderson's experience and dedication to STEM education make her the perfect candidate for the role.
Anderson has been a leader in STEM education for over a decade, working closely with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to provide opportunities for students in District 10b. Her appointment ensures continuity on the board and guarantees that the voices of students, families, and educators from this district will be heard in shaping the future of public education.

Anderson's track record as a respected community leader, education advocate, and entrepreneur speaks for itself. She has worked tirelessly to advance youth development and community-based initiatives across Chicago. In collaboration with CPS, she led the development of three student robotics teams that have achieved great success. In fact, one varsity team even earned a spot at the FIRST World Championships.

She served as an executive member of Friends of Ogden for 12 years and played a crucial role in the merger of Ogden International School and Jenner Academy of the Arts in 2018.
Anderson's civic and governance experience is also impressive. She has served on the South Chicago Quality-of-Life Plan (QLP) Education Committee and is an active member of the Bessemer Park Advisory Council in the 7th Ward.
Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northeastern Illinois University, further showcasing her dedication to education and her community.
