NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call at 10:36 a.m. on Monday, April 28, reporting a fire at a residence in the area. A second caller informed the ECC that the fire was located in the attached garage of the home and that there may still be occupants inside. In response, a general alarm was dispatched, consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel.

As fire crews were en route to the scene, neighbors took action and alerted the residents to the danger. They also assisted in safely evacuating them from the home. At 10:40 a.m., the first fire company arrived on site and encountered heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the residence.

The firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to contain and extinguish the fire. During their primary search of the structure, they were able to locate and rescue one of the family's dogs who was still inside.
