NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville residents, mark your calendars for the upcoming 2025 municipal election. The Community Services Department at the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St., will begin distributing petitions for candidacy on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
According to city officials, there will be four City Council positions up for election in 2025, each with a four-year term. To be eligible to run for these positions, candidates must be registered voters of Naperville and have lived within the city's limits for at least one year. Petitions for nomination can be filed with the Community Services Department during the designated filing period from October 21-28, 2024.

In the event that there are more than 16 candidates running for City Council, a Consolidated Primary Election will take place on February 25, 2025. The final Consolidated Election will then be held on April 1, 2025.
For specific questions regarding candidacy requirements and procedures, interested individuals are encouraged to visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website at www.elections.il.gov/Main/Publications.aspx. Those looking to obtain a petition can contact the Community Services Department at (630)305-5300.
