NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - In the early hours of Tuesday, August 12th, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a frantic 911 call from a concerned neighbor. The caller reported a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a townhome located in the 500 block of Scots Drive. The caller also expressed concern that the flames were dangerously close to the residence.
Upon receiving the call at 12:46 a.m., the ECC immediately dispatched a full still alarm assignment, consisting of two engines, one ladder truck, one medic unit, and two battalion chiefs. Fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated before the fire department's arrival.
The first suppression company arrived at the scene to find a fully engulfed vehicle with flames spreading to the nearby home. The situation was quickly upgraded to a general alarm, prompting an additional engine, ladder truck, medic unit, and heavy rescue team to be dispatched.
