~ On the evening of December 1, 2025, tragedy struck at the Naperville Train Station as an adult male contractor for the City lost his life in a fatal incident involving a train. The Naperville Police and Fire Departments were quick to respond to the scene at 105 E. 4th Avenue after receiving reports of the incident.
According to the investigation, the victim was operating snow removal equipment on the station's south platform when an eastbound freight train collided with the equipment he was driving. Despite efforts from emergency responders, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The City of Naperville expressed their deepest condolences to the victim's family and friends, acknowledging this as a profound tragedy. They also emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of their employees and contractors who provide essential services to the community on a daily basis.
The swift and professional response from Naperville Police and Fire Departments, as well as Metra Police, was commended by city officials. The City also stated that they will fully cooperate with Metra Police's ongoing investigation into the incident.
As they mourn the loss of one of their own, the City of Naperville is dedicated to supporting their staff during this difficult time.
