NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - In the early hours of Saturday, March 30, a structure fire was reported in a two-story duplex on Eldorado Lane. The call was received by Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) at 12:03 a.m. from a passerby.
Upon receiving the call, Naperville 911 (PSAP) immediately dispatched a general alarm assignment to the reported address. The assignment consisted of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an incident commander and incident safety officer.
At 12:09 a.m., Truck 10 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire on the second floor at the rear of the residence. Fire companies on scene quickly deployed an offensive attack and discovered that the main body of the fire was located in a second-floor bedroom. Fortunately, the occupant of the address was not home at the time.

The fire companies ensured that all residents in the neighboring unit were safely evacuated before focusing on extinguishing the blaze. Multiple hose lines were stretched and by approximately 12:30 a.m., the fire was deemed under control.
However, as a precautionary measure, fire companies remained on scene for an additional two hours to ensure that all hot spots were extinguished and complete overhaul was conducted.
Assisting Naperville Fire Department on scene were Naperville Police and Electric departments. The Bolingbrook, Warrenville, and Plainfield fire departments also provided coverage during this incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze but were evaluated and released at the scene.
Unfortunately, due to extensive damage caused by the fire, Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team have deemed the main occupancy uninhabitable. The estimated cost of damages is approximately $200,000.
As investigations continue into this incident, authorities urge residents to take necessary precautions to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
