NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - Last week, the City of Naperville had the honor of hosting over 60 participants from the Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE), thanks to the efforts of the Naperville Development Partnership (NDP). The event brought together key government and business representatives from Latin America, Canada, Europe, and the United States to explore economic collaboration and growth opportunities.
The visit to Naperville was part of the 20th edition of the week-long ACE exchange. This event brings top global and regional leaders together to explore partnerships, innovation, and entrepreneurship that promote economic development and increase trade. After a competitive selection process, Illinois was chosen as the destination for this year's exchange. Naperville was proud to be included in this visit as it provided an opportunity to showcase its key target industries such as life science, quantum computing and AI, clean energy, ag tech, and advanced manufacturing.
Mayor Scott Wehrli expressed his excitement about welcoming ACE delegates to Naperville and sharing the city's economic development story. He stated that Naperville's focus on transforming its portion of the Interstate-88 corridor into an innovation center aligns perfectly with ACE's goal of accelerating economic growth through transformative technologies.

One of the highlights of the visit was a tour of Ecolab's state-of-the-art campus in Naperville. Known for its innovative approach to water management and sustainability, Ecolab's on-site research and development center fuels their innovation in water solutions for industries. Delegates had the opportunity to explore the latest advancements in water technology and learn how Ecolab serves growing and water-intensive industries like data centers and microelectronics. They also witnessed firsthand the impact of Ecolab's initiatives on a local and global scale.
Josh Magnuson, EVP & GM of Global Water Solutions Group for Ecolab emphasized their commitment to protecting vital resources like water through innovative programs and technology. He stated that their exchanges with ACE delegates served as a reminder of the critical and applicable nature of water protection for all stakeholders worldwide.
After the Ecolab visit, delegates were welcomed to Naper Settlement's Innovation Gateway Center for an event hosted by Wintrust and the Naperville Development Partnership. They were treated to a presentation by City of Naperville staff about the community's famous Riverwalk, which played a crucial role in downtown revitalization in the late 1900s. Mayor Wehrli also shared how the I-88 corridor, which they had just toured, transformed Naperville from a farm community into a hub for emerging technologies in the 1960s and 70s. This transformation has resulted in the well-planned community that residents, businesses, and visitors enjoy today.
