NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A residential structure on the 1300 block of Winchester Court in Naperville was engulfed in flames on Monday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
According to the ECC, they received a call about the fire at 1:23 p.m. and immediately dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of three engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue squad, two medic units, and two battalion commanders.
The first fire suppression companies arrived on the scene at 1:26 p.m. and reported seeing smoke coming from the open front door of the home. Upon arrival, they completed a thorough survey of the structure and provided an on-scene report before establishing command and beginning fire operations.
Fortunately, two individuals who were home at the time of the incident were able to safely exit before the fire department arrived.
Fire companies wasted no time in initiating offensive fire operations, deploying handlines and conducting an interior primary search. They also worked quickly to overhaul the building to prevent further damage and ensure that no neighboring structures were affected by the blaze.

Thanks to their swift actions, the fire was brought under control within just 20 minutes. However, crews remained on scene for an hour to ensure that the residence was secure.
Assisting in this effort were members of the Naperville Police Department and Naperville Electric Department. Additionally, several neighboring fire departments including Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, Aurora Fire Department, Warrenville Fire Protection District, and Plainfield Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident.
At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by Naperville Fire Department's Fire Investigation Team. The estimated damage to the home is $400,000 and it has been deemed uninhabitable. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among civilians or firefighters.
The quick response and efficient actions taken by all involved helped prevent further damage and ensure the safety of those in the surrounding area. The Naperville Fire Department is grateful for the assistance and cooperation of all agencies involved in handling this incident.
