"The 500th anniversary of Palestrina's birth is a perfect moment to honor his legacy," says Phillips. "His influence spans centuries, from Handel to Beethoven. We've chosen a rarely heard but exceptional mass setting, alongside some of his finest motets, and will contrast them with works by Orlandus Lassus—an intriguing comparison of two great Renaissance composers."
