~ Naperville, IL- Three Chicago women have been charged with stealing from the Naperville Nike Well Collective store, located at 217 South Main Street. The charges were announced today by DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres.
The suspects, identified as Emiaya Shannon, 27, Shawanda Outlaw, 28, and Martasia Barney, 27, appeared in First Appearance Court this morning. They are each facing one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony). Additionally, Barney is charged with one count of Misdemeanor Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer. All three defendants were released pre-trial with the condition that they are prohibited from entering any Nike Store.
According to authorities, on April 9th at approximately 4:20 p.m., Shannon and Outlaw entered the Nike Well Collective store. Once inside, they allegedly selected around twenty items of clothing with a value of more than $300 before leaving the store. The pair then fled the scene in a car driven by Barney.

When a Naperville police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating their squad car's emergency lights and sirens, Barney did not pull over and instead continued to flee. With the assistance of a Chicago Police Department helicopter, all three suspects were tracked into Chicago where they were apprehended shortly after.
State's Attorney Berlin emphasized the commitment of DuPage County law enforcement to ensuring the safety and security of residents and retail businesses. He stated that the apprehension of these defendants sends a clear message that if anyone comes to DuPage County to steal, law enforcement will work together using all available resources to arrest and prosecute them.
Chief Arres also praised the collaboration between Chicagoland law enforcement agencies in this case. He highlighted how even though the crime did not occur in their community, other departments were willing to provide resources to help catch the suspects and hold them accountable for their actions.
The next court appearance for all three defendants is scheduled for May 5th in front of Judge Mia McPherson. It is important to note that the charges against them are only allegations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendants' guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial where it is the government's burden to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
