TOKYO, Japan - illiNews -- Tokyu Hotels' Announces its Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) and Environmental Initiatives. The Japanese hotel chain is proactively and ethically working on environmental issues and fulfilling social responsibility to minimize its carbon footprint and ambient impact. As sustainability policy, Tokyu Hotels has three aims: "earth-friendly hotels, town-friendly hotels, and people-friendly hotels." And while deeply recognizing the perspective of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Tokyu Hotels is contributing to the realization of a "sustainable society" through the hotel business.
Some specific Tokyu Hotels CRS and SDG activities (www.tokyuhotelsjapan.com/global/company/csr/index.html) include:
Save the Earth with the "Green Coin"
Tokyu Hotels invites hotel guests to participate in the Green Coin Program (https://www.tokyuhotelsjapan.com/global/guide/greencoin/index.html). Green Coin aims to lower damage to the global environment by decreasing the number of toothbrushes and razors used daily at our hotels. Guests can participate in the Green Coin Program by returning a Green Coin to the front desk instead of using the amenities. The donations, equivalent to the number of coins collected, are made throughout the year to two forestation activities, the Children's Forest Program and the Tokyu Hotels Green Coin Forests held in Tabayama village, Yamanashi Prefecture.

The world's first "hydrogen hotel"
At Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu REI Hotel (www.tokyuhotelsjapan.com/global/kawasaki-r/), only 10 minutes by car from Tokyo's Haneda Airport, hydrogen produced from used plastic is repurposed for electricity and hot water supply. The hotel is contributing to the reduction of CO2 as the "world's first hydrogen hotel," utilizing hydrogen to supply about 30% of its energy. *The hotel is cooperating with the Ministry of the Environment's "Regional Collaboration / Low Carbon Hydrogen Demonstration Project."
Eco Friendly "Wooden Straw Project"
The Capitol Hotel Tokyu (https://www.tokyuhotelsjapan.com/global/capitol-h/), the flagship Tokyu Hotels property, located in the heart of Tokyo, eliminated all plastic straws at its restaurants and bars with the "Wooden Straw Project." Here-in, they developed and produced drinking straws made from curling thinly sliced domestic timbers cut down in forest thinning operations.
