CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has issued a statement in response to the joint agreement signed by Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union to declare May 1 as a day of civic action. The agreement aims to allow school communities to participate in commemorating International Workers Day.

According to Mayor Johnson, schools will remain open for instruction on this day, but multiple opportunities will be provided for those who wish to take part in the civic action both inside and outside of the classroom.
