The Lake County Liderazgo Initiative's 3-Day Professional Development Initiative, November 1-3, 2023

Round Lake Park – The Lake County Liderazgo Initiative, designed and hosted by Mano a Mano, is proud to announce the 5th year of their groundbreaking 3-day professional development initiative, taking place at the new facilities of the College of Lake County Lakeshore Campus (33 N. Genesee St., Waukegan, IL 60085) from November 1-3, 2023. This unique event aims to empower emerging professionals and cultivate their leadership skills while fostering civic engagement to drive meaningful change in Lake County.

The Lake County Liderazgo Initiative is the first of its kind, focusing on nurturing the talent, intellect, and networks of emerging leaders within Latina/o communities in Lake County. With a mission to provide a platform for these leaders to enhance their capacity, deepen their understanding of policy and community issues, develop their leadership styles, and connect with other civic leaders, Liderazgo is set to revolutionize leadership development in the region.

Throughout the event, participants will benefit from presentations by leaders from across the state and from various professional fields. These distinguished speakers will address critical topics such as leadership development and social, economic, and political issues. More importantly, the seminars will provide a unique perspective on leadership development and capacity building from a Latino/a and BIPOC lens, with a central theme of elevating Latino/a voices in policy and community discussions.

Creating a more inclusive future, the Liderazgo Initiative will focus on informing fellows and fostering conversations about the structural inequalities that Latino/a communities currently face. The program's ultimate vision is to increase the participation of Latinos/a and their allies in leadership roles within Lake County over the long term, creating a more inclusive and equitable future for the community.
