~ Naperville, IL- On June 17, 2025, an Elgin man appeared in First Appearance Court this afternoon after being charged with Attempt First Degree Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Stalking, and Misdemeanor Violation of an Order of Protection. The State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced that Judge Joshua Dieden has granted the State's motion to deny pre-trial release for the accused, Rocky Ahmedyar.

According to court documents, Ahmedyar, 35 years old and residing in the 1100 block of Spring Creek Road in Elgin, allegedly attempted to murder his wife in the early hours of June 17. The victim had moved out of their family home three months ago with their three children and was staying at a residence in Naperville. At approximately 3:32 a.m., she called 911 for help.

After speaking with the victim and conducting an investigation into the matter, it is alleged that Ahmedyar approached her while she was at her car parked in the driveway. He was holding a silver Kimber 9mm handgun and threatened to shoot her if she did not talk to him. After approximately thirty minutes, Ahmedyar lowered his gun when a car drove by. The victim took this opportunity to get into her car and start reversing. However, Ahmedyar walked alongside the vehicle and fired a shot at her. Fortunately, the bullet missed her by millimeters as it went through the top right side of the driver's seat towards the passenger side.
