Naperville Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash at Washington and School Streets

~ Naperville, IL- In the early hours of Sunday, August 10, 2025, a tragic vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Washington Street and School Street. The Naperville Police and Fire Departments were alerted to the incident at approximately 1:52 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a blue 2022 Yamaha motorcycle on its side with significant damage. The operator of the motorcycle was found unresponsive.

The victim has been identified as a 28-year-old man from Aurora. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that the Yamaha operator was traveling northbound on Washington Street near Douglas Avenue when the motorcycle veered off the road and slid on its side. The impact caused both the operator and motorcycle to collide with a small retaining wall.

In response to the severity of the crash, traffic crash investigators from the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit were called to examine the scene. As a result, parts of Washington Street and the intersection were closed in both directions until approximately 6:30 a.m.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information to come forward and contact the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit at (630) 420-6177. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing as officials work to determine the cause of this fatal crash.
