~ Naperville Introduces New Online Form for Public Input on City Matters
The City of Naperville has announced the launch of a new online form that will make it easier for community members to provide input on City matters. This initiative, which will be effective from August 18th, aims to increase public participation in board and commission meetings by allowing individuals to submit written comments or position statements through the online form.
This new process is especially beneficial for those who are unable to attend meetings in person. By simply selecting a participating board or commission from a drop-down list and providing the meeting date and topic, residents can now share their thoughts and opinions on upcoming meetings. The submissions must be made at least 24 hours before the meeting start time and upon submission, users will receive an on-screen confirmation message.
All written comments and names of those who submit position statements by the deadline will be shared with board and commission members ahead of the meeting. Additionally, they will also be posted on the City's meeting management system on the day of the meeting. However, it should be noted that these comments will not be read aloud during the meeting. Submissions received after the deadline will not be shared or posted.

City Manager Doug Krieger expressed his excitement about this new initiative, stating that it offers another way for residents to make their voices heard. He also emphasized that this online form reinforces their commitment to transparency and public participation.
The new online form is linked throughout the Board and Commissions section of the City's website and can also be accessed at www.naperville.il.us/bc-comment. It complements the existing methods for submitting comments to the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission, which will continue to operate separately. More information about these pre-meeting submission processes can be found on the City's website.
With this new online form, Naperville hopes to encourage more community involvement in local decision-making processes. By providing a convenient and accessible platform for public input, the City is taking a step towards promoting transparency and inclusivity in its governance.
