Premier Lacrosse League Delivers Record Viewership and Engagement in 2025 Regular Season

NEW YORK, Aug. 22, 2025 ~ The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) has had a record-breaking 2025 Regular Season, with impressive growth across all business units. Led by a peak viewership of 833,000 on ABC in Week 3, the league saw a 24 percent increase in average viewership on ABC and a 46 percent increase on ESPN compared to last year.

PLL Co-Founder and President Paul Rabil expressed his excitement about the strong performances on ABC and ESPN this season. He also noted the league's social media presence, which saw a 23 percent increase in audience and generated an impressive 1.2 billion impressions. Rabil credited the commitment of players, teams, and fans for this success and looks forward to showcasing the best lacrosse in the world during the upcoming playoffs.

In addition to viewership growth, the PLL also saw record-breaking numbers for its onsite experience. Ticketing revenue increased by 11 percent, with 12 sellout games and two of the top five attendance weekends in league history in Chicago and Boston. The PLL's All-Star Game in Kansas City was a major success as well, becoming the most-watched PLL game on ESPN. This was largely due to its inclusion in SportsCenter's "50 States in 50 Days" campaign as Missouri's featured stop. The games in Boston and Chicago also saw high attendance numbers, with an overall increase of 11 percent in ticketing revenue compared to last year.

The league also experienced growth across other business units such as sponsorship revenue (+20%), social media impressions (+52%), merchandise sales per cap (+15%), content views on their app (+34.7%), and total revenue from their youth program PLL Play (+21%).

The PLL US Bank Playoffs will kick off on Saturday, August 23 at TCO Stadium in Minneapolis, exclusively streaming on ESPN+. The Philadelphia Waterdogs will face the Maryland Whipsnakes in the Eastern Conference game at 6pm ET, followed by the Western Conference game between the Carolina Chaos and California Redwoods at 8:30pm ET.

The winners of these games will advance to the PLL Semifinals in Philadelphia on September 1 at Subaru Park, where they will face the New York Atlas and Denver Outlaws respectively. The highly anticipated PLL US Bank Champion will be crowned on September 14 at Sports Illustrated Stadium, with the championship game airing on ABC and ESPN+.

In addition to their successful season, the PLL also announced a new five-year media rights deal with ESPN starting in 2026. This deal includes coverage of all PLL and Women's Lacrosse League (WLL) games across ESPN platforms and a minority equity investment by ESPN. This partnership is expected to further increase visibility and growth for both leagues, with all games streaming on ESPN+ and select broadcasts on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2.
