NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ At 5:57 a.m. on Friday April 28, Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for a possible structure fire at a residential occupancy in the 1300 block of Cantigny Ct. PSAP immediately dispatched a general alarm response, which included three engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue squad, two medic units and two battalion commanders.

Engine 2 arrived on the scene at 6:03 a.m., where they found light smoke showing from the two-story wood-framed single-family residential structure. Fire crews deployed a hose line to the rear of the building and rapidly attacked the fire, bringing it under control and beginning overhaul and salvage operations within five minutes of arrival.

Two occupants and one dog had evacuated the house before NFD's arrival, and primary and secondary searches were conducted to confirm that no additional occupants were present. Fire crews remained on the scene for 60 minutes to look for any fire extension and assist the homeowners.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted by several other departments including Naperville Police Department, The Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development team, NICOR, the Naperville Electric Department, and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but is believed to have originated from an outside fire pit with damages estimated at $15,000.

Fortunately there were no injuries to any firefighters or residents due to the fire and after inspection by crews on site it was deemed habitable so residents were returned to their occupancy.
