~ On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Naperville Police Department will be joining forces with several other police agencies in northern Illinois to launch a traffic safety initiative along the busy Route 59 corridor. This collaborative effort aims to increase the safety of motorists traveling on this major thoroughfare, spanning from Lake County to Will County.
The participating agencies, including the Naperville Police Department, will be utilizing a combination of education and traffic enforcement strategies to achieve their goal. Specifically, the focus will be on addressing issues such as speeding, distracted driving, and occupant restraint violations. Other safety violations will also be targeted during this initiative.

Joining forces with Naperville Police Department are police departments from South Barrington, Shorewood, Plainfield, West Chicago, Streamwood, Wauconda and Warrenville. The Cook County Sheriff's Department is also expected to participate in this joint effort. Each jurisdiction will tailor their enforcement actions according to the specific needs of their respective communities.
In light of this upcoming initiative, the Naperville Police Department would like to remind all motorists to prioritize safe driving practices at all times. This includes using proper restraints, following traffic laws and avoiding distractions while behind the wheel. Let us all work together towards creating a safer environment for everyone on our roads.
