~ As the first Tuesday in August approaches, residents of Naperville are gearing up for the annual National Night Out festivities. This celebration of community spirit and anti-crime efforts encourages residents to come together and show their support for local initiatives.
Known as "America's Night Out Against Crime," National Night Out is a nationwide event that aims to raise awareness about drug prevention and crime, promote participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen relationships between police and the community. This year, Naperville will be hosting a variety of events on Tuesday, August 5th, as well as a kick-off celebration on Monday, August 4th.
The kick-off celebration will take place at the Fry Family YMCA and will feature games, giveaways, and activities for all ages. Attendees can look forward to a bounce house, magic act, and the opportunity to interact with police personnel and equipment. Food trucks will also be on site for those looking to grab a bite to eat. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end with a free outdoor movie screening at sunset. Residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for the movie. In case of rain, the movie will be shown indoors. The kick-off event is co-sponsored by the City of Naperville, Fry Family YMCA, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hollywood Palms, and Target.
