Statement on Special Events in Naperville

For the past three years, Christkindlmarket has been a festive part of Naperville's holiday celebrations. This year, German American Events, LLC, the organizer and host of the Chicagoland Christkindlmarkets, chose to opt out of its contract with the Naperville Heritage Society, which hosted the Naperville market on the grounds of Naper Settlement. We are thankful that they brought this German tradition and unique flair to our community for the time they did, and we look forward to the new holiday experience Naper Settlement and the Naperville Heritage Society will create.

As a City, we understand the larger role that special events play in the lives of our residents and visitors. They're places and times where memories are made and traditions are formed. The City is grateful to all of the organizations that have stepped up to host events throughout the years, many times using them as a way to directly support other organizations in the community. Although we are not the host of these events, the City plays the role of logistics support, providing public safety and public works resources to ensure everyone can have a safe and fun time. We look forward to seeing the next generation of Naperville traditions be brought to life by the creative and generous hearts and minds of our community.
