The flagship of Tokyu Hotels is also celebrating the 10th anniversary since its 2010 renewal.
TOKYO, Japan - illiNews -- Capitol Hotel Tokyu has been honored with a Five-Star rating from Forbes Travel Guide in its 2021 Edition. This flagship property of the Tokyu Hotels is conveniently located in Tokyo's Akasaka business and embassy district, adjacent to historic Hie Shrine. Throughout 2020 the hotel has been celebrating ten years since it reopened its doors in 2010 after a complete four-year renewal of the original 1963 facility. The building now celebrating its 10-year anniversary was designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma, who is also the architect behind Tokyo's new National Stadium, the main venue for Tokyo's now July 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
"We are delighted to receive this prestigious distinction on our 10th anniversary and to be a part of a group of the world's top rated Five-Star hotels," said Takahiro Sueyoshi, General Manager of The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. "As Japan's first foreign-affiliated hotel, which helped open up tourism to Japan, this accolade is a testament to our predecessors who had a vision for exceptional hospitality and the dedication to continuing in that vision."

The luxury accommodation embraces the concept of fueki ryuko, meaning "continuity and change." The hotel continues to deliver authentic experiences and discoveries of the highest quality to its guests. For example, at Hie Shrine, for a fee, the hotel can arrange for guests to enter the typically off-limits shrine building to experience the atmospheric rituals of an authentic Shinto ceremony, something typically performed at the behest of worshippers experiencing important life events or when wishing for good fortune in business ventures.
