~ Naperville Police, along with the assistance of the Naperville Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other law enforcement agencies, conducted a thorough search of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve on Monday, Aug. 4 in an effort to locate missing woman Olasinmibo "Sinmi" Abosede.

Abosede, 46, was reported missing by her family on Wednesday, July 30 and has not been seen since. The search involved over 40 trained volunteers, eight K9 teams, and multiple experienced police drone operators. Despite their efforts, Abosede's whereabouts were not discovered during the search.

According to detectives, they have been following up on leads and investigating Abosede's disappearance since she was reported missing. She was last seen at approximately 9:20 a.m. on July 30 walking away from her home on Sudbury Street in Naperville. She is described as a black female with black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, grey sweatpants, a black head scarf, and black Crocs. She was also carrying a white water bottle but left behind her cell phone, credit cards and other personal items.

Police do not suspect foul play in Abosede's disappearance but are continuing their efforts to locate her. "I understand that the uncertainty surrounding Sinmi's disappearance is concerning," said Police Chief Jason Arres. "We will continue to follow up on any leads and lean on the expertise of our partners at NEMA and surrounding law enforcement agencies."

Chief Arres also urged community members to keep an eye out for Abosede and report any sightings immediately by calling 911. He also asked for anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Naperville Police Investigation's Division at 630-548-1421.

The department will communicate any major developments in the case but does not plan to provide regular updates on the status of the investigation. "We know there are a lot of community members who want to help," Chief Arres continued. "I would ask that they continue to circulate Sinmi's picture and keep their eyes open as they travel throughout the region. The more eyes we have looking out for her, the better."

As the search for Abosede continues, authorities are hopeful that she will be found safe and sound. In the meantime, they are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing her home.
