NORTHBROOK, Ill. - illiNews -- Internationally renowned firearms instructor and author, Vicki Farnam, of Defense Training International and DTI for Women, announced a recent addition to her lineup of firearms courses, centered on off-body carry, and in particular using GTM Original (GTM) purses and bags. Claudia Chisholm, president of GTM, is proud to be a part of this training, which features her line of concealed carry purses and bags.
Farnam said, "This was a long discussed idea. Claudia asked me last summer if I would create a curriculum for an instructor class. Fundamentals in Off-Body Carry & Protection. Manufacturing a product and using a product are two different things and I kept urging that everyone needed to know how to use this product with real loaded guns in them. Over the years, I have done some product testing for GTM and have worked on projects with staff on the range. This project is a natural evolution of a long association."
Farnam continued, "Because off-body carry is vilified, condemned and ignored, there is not a structured learning curriculum. But step-by-step instruction gives us the capability of managing the risk and carefully managing a loaded handgun in our off-body carry mode of choice. All of this is so the handgun will be available to us should our life be in danger."

Fundamentals in Off-Body Carry & Protection includes learning to draw, fire (while dealing with the off-carry bag's position) and re-holster with accuracy. The training is aimed for trainers – those with NRA or USCCA certifications.
"This course serves two purposes," said Claudia Chisholm, president of GTM. "One, is to demonstrate the off-body carry can offer protection with proper training and quality products. GTM is honored and grateful Ms. Farnam agreed to design and teach such a course where a two-second draw is possible. It's truly unfortunate how many of the female population are turned away from any type of protection education just because on-body is not an option for them. Second, what an incredible opportunity for any retailer or range to reach out to this neglected demographic! By filling this void with talented educators and trainers, it is a win-win where it's desperately needed"
The next class will be held in Ft. Collins, Colorado, from April 10 to 12.Anyone interested in the class can contact Farnam directly at vk.farnam@gmail.com. Phone: 970-482-2520.
