Get Your Kicks in Bronzeville™ is a collaborative platform that brings together tourism, history, transportation, innovation, and neighborhood economic development.
CHICAGO - illiNews -- The Black Metropolis Convention and Tourism Council, in partnership with the Bronzeville-Black Metropolis National Heritage Area, announces the launch of Get Your Kicks in Bronzeville™. This is a new cultural tourism and economic development campaign celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Route 66, America's 250th birthday, National Drive Electric Month, and our growing role as one of Chicago's premier heritage destinations.
The campaign highlights Bronzeville's role as a gateway to Chicago's South Side while connecting visitors to destinations along Illinois' historic Route 66 corridor. Visitors can explore experiences and itineraries linking to Joliet, Springfield, and Brooklyn, Illinois.
Throughout September and October, visitors will be invited to experience our neighborhoods through historic landmarks, heritage tours, live music, cultural events, electric mobility demonstrations, and curated road trips inspired by the Negro Motorist Green Book. This year, Bronzeville reconnects those stories for a new generation - through Movement. Mobility. Music. The campaign embraces a simple but powerful idea: Route 66 was America's Great Road Trip. For Black travelers, that journey was guided by this book.
