CHICAGO — Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot today announced Lori Ann Lypson will serve as the City of Chicago's Deputy Mayor of Infrastructure and Services. Lypson, who currently serves as Chief of Staff for the Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC), brings a unique skillset in system management, strategic counseling, and advocacy — and a demonstrated track record of success in procurement and compliance, project management, and logistics to the position. She will serve a vital role within the administration to improve the delivery of essential services to Chicago residents.
"Lori has dedicated more than a decade of her career to serving our city and finding ways to make government work better for our residents," said Mayor Lightfoot. "That deep City government experience, as well as her passion for improving City services from the inside out, makes her the perfect fit for the role of Deputy Mayor of Infrastructure. I look forward to working with Lori to continue delivering the infrastructure investments and improvements our residents deserve."
Lori Lypson began her career at the City of Chicago in with the Chicago Police Department's Office of Professional Standards. Following her work at CPD, Lypson served as a Deputy Procurement Officer for the Department of Procurement Services and managed a staff to evaluate applications of minority- and woman-owned businesses, increase efficiency, and promote equity in contracting. Most recently, Lypson served at PBC as the Director of Government Affairs and Legal Affairs, Chief Operating Officer / Chief of Staff. Her work at PBC included the development of legislative strategy, management of all operational functions, and strategic counseling to clients and stakeholders.

Lypson brings 18 years of City service focused on operations management to her new role in the Mayor's Office. Lypson will report directly to Paul Goodrich, Chief Operating Officer and work closely with all City departments to develop policy and strategy initiatives that improve the City's infrastructure, transportation, regulatory services, and municipal services.
"I am honored to be taking on this new role with Mayor Lightfoot's team and look forward to building on the many major diverse and equitable infrastructure milestones of this administration," said Lori Lypson. "I am eager to work with the construction community along with the talented professionals in the City to continue to produce positive outcomes for the citizens of Chicago."
Lypson is a native to the Chicagoland area and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. Lypson also holds a juris doctor degree from the Howard University School of Law.
