Chicago-based financial advisor leads team as a College Unit Director

CHICAGO - illiNews -- Darin A. Buford, will take his love for coaching and educating to a new level as Northwestern Mutual – Chicago's newest College Unit Director. As a financial representative, the former collegiate athlete and educator coaches clients to develop a game plan to achieve financial security. As a College Unit Director, he will coach and lead a team of college financial representatives who are participating in the firm's nationally top-rated internship program¹.

"Darin has made great contributions to the internship program through recruiting, mentoring and coaching our college representatives," said Toby Eng, District Director of Northwestern Mutual – Chicago. "He's very passionate about giving young professionals the opportunity to have a great internship experience," he added.

During his college career, Buford played football for Baker University in Kansas and was a student coach at the University of Central Missouri before pursuing a career as a special education teacher. In 2015, he joined Northwestern Mutual in the company's Leawood, Kansas office. In 2018, he relocated and joined Northwestern Mutual-Chicago.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from the University of Central Missouri.
