NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - The City of Naperville has announced its search for two dedicated individuals to serve as volunteer co-chairs for its upcoming bicentennial celebration in 2031. As the city prepares to commemorate 200 years since its founding, the chosen co-chairs will play a crucial role in leading the development and execution of community-wide celebrations and projects.
The selected volunteers will serve as co-chairs of the 2031 Bicentennial Committee, working closely together to guide the planning process from 2026 until the bicentennial in 2031. Their responsibilities will include creating an inclusive and engaging celebration that honors Naperville's rich history, culture, and growth. They will also be responsible for building a team of community members to assist with various tasks.
In addition, the co-chairs will lead fundraising efforts to secure funds for events, community projects, and other celebration activities. They will also be responsible for recruiting community members to serve on subcommittees and play an active role in bringing their ideas to life.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is organized, has excellent communication skills, and is passionate about the Naperville community. Interested individuals must reside in Naperville and cannot currently hold elected government office.
Applications for this unpaid volunteer position will be accepted until February 13th. To apply, interested individuals can visit naperville.il.us/bicentennial for more information and to download the application form.
A selection committee consisting of representatives from various organizations such as the Downtown Naperville Alliance, Naperville Chamber of Commerce, Naperville Park District, Naper Settlement, and City of Naperville staff will conduct interviews in March. The final selection is expected to be made by May.
