~ Naperville, IL - The Naperville Police Department is taking proactive measures to educate citizens about the latest scams targeting residents. On Wednesday, Feb. 26 at noon, the department will be hosting a scam awareness webinar to provide valuable information on how to protect oneself from falling victim to fraudulent activities.
According to a recent press release, Naperville residents have reported losing a staggering $5.5 million to scams in 2024 alone. This alarming statistic highlights the need for residents of all ages to be aware of the red flags associated with various scams. From teenagers to senior citizens, no one is immune from being targeted by scammers.
To address this growing concern, a financial crimes detective and crime prevention specialist from the Naperville Police Department will be presenting the most commonly reported scams during the webinar. They will also discuss current trends involving cryptocurrency and share tips on how residents can identify potential scams.
