Naperville Police Investigate Explosion at Pioneer Park

NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A loud explosion was reported in the area of Washington Street and Olympus Drive on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at approximately 9:33 p.m. Several residents called the police to report the incident, prompting officers to be dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a mangled vehicle in the parking lot of Pioneer Park located at 1212 S. Washington Street. The caller, a 25-year-old male from Bolingbrook, had also contacted the police to report that his vehicle had exploded.

The injured male was found at the scene and was immediately transported to a local hospital by the Naperville Fire Department. Fortunately, his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
