New website reaches people over 50, unmarried, without children.
FARMINGTON, Conn. - illiNews -- Connecticut entrepreneur, Jill Kovalich, has launched a unique and helpful information hub, SoloAgersConnect.com for Solo Agers, defined as people over 50, who are unmarried and without children. Her website aims to be one source for information, resources, and services for the 16 million-plus Solo Agers in the U.S.
A marketing professional, Kovalich is a Solo Ager who decided to create a one-stop-shop website to eliminate the fruitless internet searches that leave people feeling frustrated and helpless.
"As I started to approach 60, I started thinking seriously about my own future," says Kovalich. "I started searching for helpful ways to answer the burning question, 'Who will help me when I am old?'"
Kovalich created the website to address concerns over aging alone. She is also building a community on Facebook intended to address loneliness and isolation and foster connections in a disconnected society. Her goal is to eventually coordinate and host in-person and online gatherings.

By 2040, it's expected that 78 million Baby Boomers in America will be over the age of 65, according to the National Council on Aging. With this shift, we are hearing terms like Elder Orphans and Solo Agers in conversations and the media. Opting to move away from the negative connotations that the words "elder" and "orphan" evoke, Kovalich embraces "solo" for its positive associations. "We look favorably on solopreneurs and solo travel," she says. "Why not place aging in there, too?"
SoloAgersConnect.com provides informational articles on topics that this population is concerned about. The Resources section continues to expand with links to state and federal sites and nonprofit organizations connecting the visitor to vital programs.
The Services section connects Connecticut residents with service providers for needs related to home, legal and life planning, money management, medical health, and travel and leisure. Kovalich has set criteria for service providers to meet to secure their paid listing. There is no membership required to use the site.

The U.S. Census Bureau 2023 data reveals that 28 percent of people 65 and older live alone, an increase of 18% since 1950. Economically this population will account for almost 60% of global consumer spending by 2050 – that's $96 trillion.
"I want anyone to visit the site and find what they need without having to sign up for a membership," states Kovalich. "I want to provide help and connections."
