~ Today, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced that Judge Joshua Dieden granted the State's motion to deny pre-trial release for Jalen Littleton, 19, of the 3700 block of Towle Avenue, Hammond. Littleton is charged with one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Machine Gun, a Class X Felony.

The incident occurred on September 30th at approximately 9:51 p.m., when Naperville police officers on routine patrol at TopGolf on Odyssey Court observed a gun in plain view on the driver's side floorboard of a black Chevy Cruze. A short time later, Littleton and another individual returned to the vehicle. When officers searched Littleton's vehicle, they found a fully-loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, a laser sight and an auto switch that enables the weapon to fire fully automatic when engaged. Littleton was taken into custody at that time as he does not possess a valid FOID or CCL.

State's Attorney Berlin commented on the incident saying "Public safety is the top priority of my office and the allegation that Mr. Littleton unlawfully possessed an extremely dangerous, fully-loaded gun capable of firing as a machine gun, at a family-friendly entertainment facility is outrageous. Allegations such as those against Mr. Littleton will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be fully prosecuted." Chief Arres also praised his officers for their proactive efforts in removing firearms from those who cannot legally possess them saying "This was another great example by these officers showing that this department will continue to do everything we can to keep this community safe."

Littleton's next court appearance is scheduled for October 16th for arraignment in front of Judge Brian Telander. It is important to note that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant's guilt; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
