~ Naperville Man Accused of Drug Trafficking and Possession of Fentanyl Detained Pre-Trial

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres have announced that a Naperville man, Ahmad Dinah, has been detained pre-trial on charges of drug trafficking and possession of fentanyl. The decision was made by Judge Anthony Coco after the State's motion to detain Dinah was granted.

Dinah, 30 years old and residing in the 1100 block of Iroquois, appeared at First Appearance Court this morning. He is facing one count of Controlled Substance Trafficking (Class X Felony), one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver – Fentanyl (Class X Felony), and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony).

According to authorities, on November 3, 2025, U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigators intercepted a suspicious parcel at their Chicago facility addressed to Dinah from Anaheim, California. After obtaining a search warrant, it is alleged that the parcel contained approximately one thousand tablets containing fentanyl. On November 5, authorities conducted a controlled delivery of the parcel to Dinah's apartment complex. Detectives from the Naperville Police Department observed Dinah retrieve the package from the mailroom and return to his apartment. Upon knocking on his door and executing a previously obtained search warrant, detectives allegedly found that the package had been opened and the fentanyl tablets were found on the sink in transparent, air-sealed plastic.

State's Attorney Berlin expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by law enforcement in this case. "Countless lives were saved as a result of taking this fentanyl off the streets," he stated. "We cannot ignore the devastating toll illegal narcotics takes not only on individuals but also on society as a whole."

Chief Arres echoed Berlin's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in combating the spread of fentanyl. "Fentanyl has devastated families and communities across this country and we are committed to doing everything possible to keep it out of Naperville," he said. "The work by our detectives, in collaboration with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and other federal partners, as well as the DuPage County State's Attorney's office, stopped a significant amount of this deadly drug from reaching our streets."
