NORTHFIELD, Ill., Sept. 17, 2024 ~ Dr. Brian McDonagh, MD, has been recognized as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for his outstanding contributions to the medical field. The Inner Circle, a prestigious publication, prominently featured Dr. McDonagh for his exceptional work in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Crohn's disease, Migraine and Peripheral Neuropathy.
As the Founder of Vein Clinics of America (VCA), Dr. McDonagh is renowned worldwide for his discovery of the advanced ultrasound guided injection method for varicose veins. This groundbreaking technique has replaced traditional vein stripping surgery and has greatly improved the quality of life for many patients.
In addition to his pioneering work in vascular medicine, Dr. McDonagh is also recognized for his innovative neurological breakthroughs. These highly effective treatments have rapidly alleviated symptoms and improved overall patient outcomes.

A strong advocate for new medical ideas and innovations, Dr. McDonagh is honored to be acknowledged for his contributions to the fields of Neurology and Gastroenterology. He has made significant advancements in understanding Crohn's disease as an overactive neurogenic stimulus that can be easily treated within minutes. Currently, he is working on a promising treatment for blindness.
Dr. McDonagh's journey in medicine began at University College Dublin in Ireland where he earned his medical degree. He then completed an Internship at Tucson Hospital Medical Education Program followed by two years of Rehabilitation Medicine in Detroit before settling in Chicago where he practiced Primary Medical Care.
However, it was during this time that Dr. McDonagh developed painful varicose veins which led him to discover the micro-injection method for eliminating them. This discovery prompted him to found Vein Clinics of America (VCA), which now has 27 centers throughout the Eastern half of the USA.
Driven by a desire for new challenges, Dr. McDonagh became interested in Prolotherapy, a successful treatment for painful degenerative joint disease. He had both of his knees treated with this method in 2006 and has since been a strong advocate for its use as an alternative to joint replacement surgery.

Dr. McDonagh's interest in innovative treatments also led him to explore P.I.T. (perineural injection treatment), a new neurology developed by Dr. John Lyftogt in New Zealand. This treatment has shown quick and excellent results in sports injuries and Dr. McDonagh recommends it for Olympic athletes who want to return to their events as soon as possible after an injury.
Reflecting on his motivation to contribute to the field of medicine, Dr. McDonagh credits his wife and four children for their unwavering support throughout his career. His commitment to providing personalized and compassionate care to his patients has earned him recognition within the medical community.
Looking towards the future, Dr. McDonagh remains dedicated to delivering exceptional care and advancing medical knowledge. He is constantly seeking ways to improve treatments and patient outcomes. In his free time, he enjoys reading, music, opera, golf, tennis, and aviation (he has flown himself across the Atlantic several times). These diverse interests reflect his multifaceted approach to life.
