NORTHBROOK, Ill. - illiNews -- GTM Original (GTM) will donate a portion of proceeds from its sales of concealed carry purses and bags to the US Army Women's Museum at Ft Lee, Virginia. The sale runs from Thursday, May 25, through Sunday, June 5, during which GTM's entire line of more than 200 items will be on sale, with the added benefit of support for this historic institution.
The museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to Army women. It originally opened in 1955 at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Called the Women's Army Corps (WAC) Museum, the museum morphed throughout the years into a new name and a new place – the US Army Women's Museum, located in Richmond, Virginia, at Ft. Lee. After a redesign in 2018, it now includes the "Women in War" outdoor exhibit, which features 10 panels and a reflection garden, along with several galleries indoors that show women's contributions to the armed forces since the Revolutionary War. It also serves as an educational institution, providing "military history training and instruction to soldiers, veterans and the civilian community." Its mission is to "conserve and preserve a repository of artifacts and archives pertaining to the service of women in the U.S. Army."

Retired Master Sgt. Gloria Krauklis, US Army, is a liaison for GTM with the military and law enforcement. She also holds several other certifications, including instructor rankings from the United States Concealed Carry Association and the National Rifle Association. She said, "The US Army Women's Museum at Ft. Lee, Virginia, is designed to educate the public on the sacrifices that women have made in the defense of this great nation. Having served for 20 years, it's great to see an organization whose sole purpose is to preserve and share the contributions of women soldiers from the past, present and well into the future. I am proud to have served and been a part of the legacy."
GTM's president, Claudia Chisholm, said, "GTM thanks Ms. Krauklis for bringing this little known museum to our attention. It is with great honor to donate to this mission. Please include the museum in your travels. Help us to get the word out; it serves as a national reminder how much women contribute to the non-stop operation and safety of our country, immortalized for generations to come."
