Two New Fiction Collections Published By Tales of Wonder and Dread
POPLAR GROVE, Ill. - May 21, 2019 - illiNews -- Poplar Grove, Illinois based Tales of Wonder and Dread Publishing has just released two new books. "Spectral Stories: A Collection of Ghost Tales" and "Speculative Stories: A Collection of Science Fiction Stories" are fiction short story anthologies. The publisher is focused on science fiction and horror books along with books that have a general macabre tone.
"Spectral Stories: A Collection of Ghost Tales" focuses, as you might guess, on ghost stories. Who doesn't love a good ghost story, really? The book includes four modern ghost stories. Those tales are "The Investigation" by Gary Hill, "Mrs. Harper's Stones" by Kevin Wood, "Necropolis" by Mike Korn and "Paranormal Experiment" by Bill Camp. The book is rounded out by classic ghost stories from William Harrison Ainsworth, John Kendrick Bangs, F. Marion Crawford, M. R. James, Margaret Oliphant, Edgar Allan Poe and Edith Wharton.
"Speculative Stories: A Collection of Science Fiction Tales" also includes both modern and classic fiction The collection includes five stories from Gary Hill: "Altered Reality," "Rest in Peace, Jeremy Crandall," "The Stars," "The Wind" and "Wizard Song Prelude." The other modern stories are "In the Government Line" by Katrina Cooper-Hinton and "Return from Mars" by Adam R. Crump. Classic tales from E. M. Forster, Jack London, H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe complete the lineup of stories.

Tales of Wonder and Dread Publishing have previously released nine books. The first three titles were all released on September 4th, 2018: "Life Blood: A Collection of Vampire Tales," "Spooky Rockford: Creepy Tales in the Greater Forest City Area" and "Strange Realities: Collected Short Stories and More by Gary Hill - Expanded and Revised Edition." "Spirited Classics: A Collection of Timeless Ghost Stories" was published on October 4th, 2018. "Original Superheroes: Classic Tales of Superhuman Beings" was published on November 6th of the same year.
February 5th of this year saw the release of "Interstellar Journeys: A Collection of Space Travel Stories" and "Temporal Journeys: A Collection of Time Travel Stories." "Interstellar Journeys..." features modern space travel stories from Eric Danhoff, Heath D. Alberts, Katrina Cooper, Gary Hill, Ian Christopher LeBlanc and John Michael Oro along with a classic tale from Edgar Allen Poe. "Temporal Journeys: A Collection of Time Travel Stories" has new stories from Heath D. Alberts, Abby Goldsmith and Gary Hill, alongside classic tales from Edmond Hamilton, Edward Page Mitchell, H. Beam Piper and H.G. Wells.
"Rockford's Final Resting Places: Volume 1: Greenwood and Cedar Bluff Cemeteries" by Gary Hill with Ernie Fuhr was released on April 9th. A photo-heavy collection, it looks at two of Rockford's oldest cemeteries with some history and lots of black and white photographs. Two weeks later, on April 23rd, Tales of Wonder and Dread published "Rockford's Final Resting Places: Volume 2: Guilford Turner and Guilford Union Cemeteries." Similar to the previous book, it is centered around black and white photographs augmented by a bit of history.

Future releases for Tales of Wonder and Dread include "Rockford's Final Resting Places Volume 3" (June 18), "Rockford's Final Resting Places Volume 4" (August 15th), "Lovecraftian Branches" and "Lovecraftian Roots" (both August 20th), "Spooky Berwyn," "Spooky Fiction" and "Spooky Rockford 2" (all on September 3rd) and "Rockford's Final Resting Places Volume 5" (September 28th).
