Tim Lukas, American Football Player, Competing for Spot on Olympic Bobsled Team
CHICAGO - illiNews -- Former Montreal Alouette, Tim Lukas, is taking his competitiveness to the next level by gunning for the United States Winter Olympics team. Lukas, a professional American football player for the CFL, and a notable list of Indoor American Arena teams, has been invited to try his hand at Olympic bobsledding, according to his agent.
Tim Lukas, who has most recently been seen working out with former New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees, and current quarterback, Jameis Winston, received an interesting call in the off-season. Lukas, who is touted as a super athlete, has drawn many connections in the sports world, so it was no surprise when he was put in touch with the Team USA coaches.
"To be asked to come and train with the US Olympic Team is something I would have never, in my wildest dreams, thought I would be doing," Lukas stated. "They are world class athletes, world class coaches, state of the art training facilities, it is an honor to train with them."

Lukas has no prior experience with bobsledding, but has kept himself in peak performance shape throughout his career, making him an easy option as a competitor. At the onset of the invitation, Lukas began working with specialists in preparation for his introduction to bobsledding. His training, specific to this opportunity, has consisted of two sessions per day, putting in hours of mobility and flexibility sessions, as well as sled push training, speed development on the track, and hours of sprinting sessions and strength training.
"I am enjoying my time learning, growing, and picking up a new craft, " Lukas added. "Having an opportunity to represent our country is something I am very thankful for."
Tim Lukas is currently training with staff at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center so that he can be fully evaluated for the next phase of training. Though Lukas plans to continue playing in the CFL this upcoming season, the chances are also good that we could see him speeding down the bobsled train in Beijing in 2022.
