Five Naperville Businesses Cited for Selling Tobacco to Minors During Recent Compliance Check

~ The Naperville Police Department recently conducted 82 compliance checks to ensure local retailers are adhering to the minimum-age tobacco laws. Five establishments were found to be in violation of the law, resulting in City Ordinance citations for selling tobacco/alternative nicotine products to persons under 21 years old. These establishments included Royal Smokeshop, Smoke O Vapor, Smoke Arena, Casey's and U Smoke.

The Naperville Police Department was awarded a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services Tobacco Enforcement Program which enabled them to educate retailers on minimum-age tobacco/nicotine product laws and the importance of verifying customer age before selling age-restrictive products. Retailers were given a retailer education packet and notified that compliance checks would be conducted in the near future.
