Naperville: Structure Fire in the 800 Block of Cardiff Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ On Wednesday, May 10th, Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call from a contractor in the area reporting black smoke coming from the roof of a single-family home located in the 800 block of Cardiff Road. In response, Naperville 911 dispatched 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel to the scene.

Upon arrival at 8:15 a.m., fire crews found smoke coming from the roof and immediately stretched hose lines and began searching for potential victims. As they made their way to the second story, they encountered areas where the fire had completely burned through the floor. Fortunately, all residents were out of the home by this time. At 8:33 a.m., the fire was deemed under control and crews remained on scene for another 90 minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Naperville Police Department and no injuries were reported among occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is estimated to have caused $250,000 in damage, rendering it uninhabitable according to Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team.
