BOSTON - illiNews -- Crosby Tatum's latest film, The People, United: A Cinematic Diary will be screening simultaneously during the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival in Norcross, GA at the Norcross Cultural Arts & Community Center at 12pm, and the Ocktober Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY at the Stuart Cinema and Café at 6:15pm on Friday, October 25, 2024.

Both screenings are set to occur during the early voting period for the 2024 US general election between former US President Donald J. Trump, and the current Vice-President Kamala D. Harris.

Told from the viewpoints and perspectives of protestors on different sides, this raw, sprawling account of a movement for change is visually explored when the murder of George Floyd sparks worldwide protests, against a global pandemic and a contentious US election season in 2020.

The film features over fifty on-the-spot remarks and interviews directly from protestors and demonstrators. Additional remarks from Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), former Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-MA), family members of Mr. George Floyd, Jacob Blake, Trayvon Martin, Terrence Coleman, Eurie Stamps Sr., are featured among several key leaders and community activists.  The People, United is written, produced, and directed by Tatum, and produced by Crosby Tatum and Tressa Epps.

"This was one of the hardest films I've ever made," Tatum states as he reflects on the making of his film.  "I was working at a hospital while driving for Uber Eats and Doordash during the 1st wave of the pandemic.  The murder of George Floyd deeply affected me.  Watching the visuals of people protesting police brutality pushed me over the edge."

He adds, "At that point, I just picked up my camera and decided to tell the story about the people seeking equality & change, no matter what their beliefs or politics were.  It is all about the people and their ability to stand united during the worst, and best of times.  Our voices matter.  And during a time of constant division and unrest it is not only important, but necessary for today, tomorrow, and the future to come."

Tickets can be purchased or RSVP'd at The People United Website with future screenings to be announced through their online mailing list.  The trailer for the film can also be found on the film's website and Youtube page.
